Studio Today

February 18, 2018

I was going to call my blog Studio Life, but in deference to Sarah Trigg’s Studio Life: Rituals, Collections, Tools, and Observations on the Artistic Process I decided not to. So maybe I'll call it Studio Today. Aside: bought Trigg’s book here--all profits go to their awesome services

The studio tends to keep my energy going. When I have a certain zap of energy I sometimes take pics--a lot actually. I see them as wannabe paintings, or studies for stained glass collage windows, or similar, but am not willing to spend money to make those end results. Maybe next year I may work up some of the photos and offer selected prints. I especially like my snaps of my glazing table Kraft paper, after I have been prepping pieces for the next fire. By the way, my next firing target is the end of the month. It will be an electric mid-fire. I plan to get into a couple of wood fires in the spring.

Someone asked me if I am “Painting again?” Not at this time, but likely someday. I want to nail my ceramics shop down first. That is a necessity  like building a ground shelter for survival—best make it really good, and it will serve you well. I am finding that I need more functional space in which to work, so I am going to have to expand my studio. I am just beginning to plan it out.

I have added an opt-in "Subscribe" feature to my website. It will generate occasional notices of studio updates, future special offers, link to the blog, and such, and one can unsubscribe at any time.
